The City Park Jazz Festival is a Denver tradition that dates back more than 130 years. This charity-sponsored event produces 10 free jazz concerts every summer, attended by up to 80,000 Denver locals. See below for a brief summary of the summer concert schedule. Concert Schedule:
June 4th: The Other Black (featuring Wesley Watkins) A group of 30 musicians featuring a soul-funk- do-wop mix style with a modern influence.
June 11th: Pete Wernick & FLEXIGRASS
A fusion band combining elements of traditional jazz with bluegrass & banjo.
June 18th: Linda Styles
A talented singer with a unique sound and a wide range, Styles sings blues, jazz, r&b, hip-hop and gospel.
June 25th: Dotsero
A contemporary jazz band with an emphasis on saxophone and guitar.
July 2nd: Purnell Steen and LeJazz Machine
A band which specializes in the Denver five-points style of jazz music.
July 9th: Buckner Funken Jazz
A diversified band which plays jazz, blues, funk and latin.
July 16th: Judge Roughneck
A popular Denver Ska & Reggae style band.
July 23rd: Los Bohemios
An acoustic ensemble specializing in cuban son, salsa, cumbia and boleros, as well as latin Rock and latin Jazz. July 30th: JoFoKe (Joslyn Ford-Keel)
A talented local singer with an affinity for everything from classical to gospel to jazz through to rock, blues, pop, funk and soul.
August 6th: Alpha Schoolmarm Orchestra A band with an emphasis on early ’60s Jamaican Ska music.
